About Kimberly Beckler, LMHC
Owner and Therapist,
Life in Focus Therapy

My Background

I began as a licensed therapist in 2007 with a private practice in Winter Park, Florida, after earning my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Rollins College. Since then, my career has spanned clinical work, crisis response, and leadership roles within the Orange County Public Schools system, including serving as a school principal and later as Director of Mental Health Services. In those roles, I led district-wide initiatives focused on trauma-informed practices, emotional wellness, and resiliency.

These experiences gave me a deep understanding of the challenges faced by students, parents, families, educators, and leaders. They also shaped the way I support clients today: with compassion, clarity, and a grounded understanding of how stress, trauma, grief, systems, and life transitions impact our emotional health and wellbeing.

Who I Work With

I’m an Orlando‑based therapist who supports adults, teens, and pre‑teens navigating anxiety, trauma, grief, chronic stress, burnout, relationship or parenting challenges, and major life transitions. Many of the adults I work with are high‑responsibility professionals, caregivers, or people who have spent years holding everything together for everyone else. Therapy with me is warm, collaborative, and focused on helping you feel more regulated, clear, and connected to yourself.

My Approach to Therapy

At Life in Focus Therapy, PLLC, I offer a warm, collaborative space where therapy is personalized and tailored to your needs, strengths, and goals. My approach is EMDR-centered but integrates other evidence‑based modalities (like DBT and CBT), and always begins with resourcing as we build coping skills, grounding strategies, and internal supports that help you feel steadier right away.

As we build trust, safety and clarity together, we explore the patterns, beliefs, and emotional responses that show up in your day‑to‑day life. Many of these come from parts of you that learned to cope or protect you in important ways, and I approach these parts with respect and curiosity.

Because EMDR is woven throughout my work, we also pay attention to whether past experiences are still influencing present‑day triggers. When it feels right and you’re ready, we may gently process those experiences using bilateral stimulation (often simple eye movements or tapping) to help your brain release what’s been stuck and create more space, flexibility, and ease in the present. This work is always paced, collaborative, and grounded in your sense of safety.

With pre‑teens and teens, I often incorporate creative, interest‑based activities to make therapy accessible and engaging.

In the Community

I’m passionate about continuing my work in education and training on topics related to trauma, emotional wellness, parenting, leadership, and mental health. I love connecting with parents and professionals through workshops and presentations, and always welcome community speaking opportunities when my schedule allows. Recently, I presented on WESH 2 News’ Back to School Town Hall special, speaking on “Teens and Technology.” I was also interviewed by WESH 2 on the importance of normalizing mental health check-ins and everyday conversations about wellness—because reducing stigma starts with how we talk. Mental health is health, and healing is possible.

Outside of Work

Outside of my professional work, my greatest joys are my friends, my family (including my two amazing kids), spending time near the water, live theater and music (once a theater kid, always a theater kid- and I’m married to a musician), and coffee. I am also obsessed with traveling and experiencing new places and cultures, and having lived in four countries, my goal is to one day be a traveling therapist so that I can see even more of the world.

Let’s Connect!

I am currently accepting new clients, including telehealth therapy for adults across Florida, and in-person for pre-teens through adults at my office in downtown Orlando. If you’d like to schedule a time to talk to see if we might be a good fit, or if you have questions, I’d love to connect!
