Therapy for Pre-Teens & Teens in Florida

Support for kids and teens carrying more than they can say.

For the anxiety, stress, big emotions, school pressure, and life changes that can show up as shutdowns, outbursts, worry, or pulling away.

When something feels off, but your child may not have the words for it

Pre-teens and teens often show stress in indirect ways. They may seem irritable, withdrawn, overwhelmed, perfectionistic, reactive, or “fine” one minute and completely flooded the next.

Therapy gives them a steady place to build trust, understand what they’re feeling, and learn how to move through big emotions with more support.

This may be a good fit if your child is:

  • Worrying often or struggling to relax

  • Shutting down, lashing out, or pulling away

  • Having a hard time with school pressure or transitions

  • Feeling overwhelmed by friendships, family changes, or identity questions

  • Carrying grief, stress, trauma, or emotions they don’t know how to explain

Support for what your child is carrying

Therapy can help pre-teens and teens better understand their emotions, build coping tools, and feel less alone in what they’re navigating.

Anxiety & Worry

For racing thoughts, reassurance-seeking, perfectionism, panic, or trouble relaxing.

Grief & Life Changes

For loss, divorce, family transitions, moves, friendship changes, or other major adjustments.

Stress & School Pressure

For academic overwhelm, transitions, motivation struggles, or feeling like everything is too much.

ADHD & Executive Functioning

For organization, focus, follow-through, emotional regulation, and school-related stress

Big Emotions

For shutdowns, outbursts, irritability, sensitivity, or emotions that feel hard to manage.

Trauma & Hard Experiences

For experiences that still affect their sense of safety, confidence, relationships, or nervous system.

Therapy may help your child:

  • Name and understand what they’re feeling

  • Build tools for stress, anxiety, and big emotions

  • Feel more confident navigating school, friendships, and family changes

  • Process grief, trauma, or hard experiences at a pace that feels safe

Therapy that meets kids and teens where they are

My work with pre-teens and teens is warm, steady, and developmentally attuned. Sessions are shaped around your child’s age, personality, comfort level, and what helps them feel safe enough to open up.

Some sessions may include conversation, coping tools, creative activities, emotional regulation skills, or support around school, friendships, family changes, or stress. The goal is to help your child feel understood—not pressured, judged, or treated like a problem to fix.

When stress or hard experiences feel stuck

For some pre-teens and teens, anxiety, grief, trauma, or overwhelming experiences can keep showing up in their emotions, body, relationships, or sense of safety.

When appropriate, I may integrate EMDR therapy as part of a paced, supportive process that honors your child’s age, readiness, comfort level, and need for trust.

EMDR is never rushed or forced. It’s introduced thoughtfully and collaboratively as part of the larger therapy process.

Some pre-teens and teens come to therapy for support with a specific concern, while others benefit from a steadier space to work through anxiety, stress, big emotions, grief, trauma, or ongoing life changes.

Life in Focus Therapy shapes therapy around your child’s age, personality, comfort level, and needs—while thoughtfully including parents in the process when helpful.

✔ Ongoing Therapy

✔ Parent Support

Guidance for understanding what your child may be communicating through behavior, emotions, or withdrawal.

Your child doesn’t have to carry it alone

If therapy feels like it could be a helpful next step, I offer a consultation so you can ask questions, share what you’re noticing, and get a sense of whether working together feels like the right fit.
